About the Event: The Cougar Literacy Run is a community 5k and one mile kids'fun run (for Manassas Park students) to promote literacy and wellness for our students. The day of the event includes family friendly activities and community vendors. Prior to race day, students at our K-5 buildings take part in a reading challenge. Once achieved, students receive a free t-shirt and entry into our one mile kids' fun run. Proceeds from the event go to purchasing print and digital resources to enhance literacy and integrate mathematics, science, and social studies learning at our K-5 campuses.
Mission Statement: The Cougar Literacy Run's mission is to encourage students to read every day, get excited exploring new books, and to feel successful when they accomplish their reading goals. Through the community partnerships we are able to provide literacy resources for the 1600 K-5 students of Manassas Park, while promoting health and wellness.
